Well, I feel like life got really busy after the school year started. Though the kids have more places to be nowadays, it still feels like time slows down back on the farm. After weeks of waiting, we finally got our new front door! Although I did love the charm of our old original farmhouse door, I wasn’t sad to see it go. It was hard to open (so we didn’t) and covered with lead paint. Not my cup of tea. I thought about preserving it, but in the end, I could either pay someone to strip off the poison paint or order a new one. I chose the new one, because it helped me sleep at night. I wasn’t sure how many brain cells we could afford to lose! Opening our new door is a dream! It glides so easily and it looks really nice. A local door and window’s company ordered and installed it for us. We declined to have it painted because I have been taking my sweet time deciding what color to paint it. I think black for the outside and some shade of deep blue for the inside?
I tried to find a before, but this is as close as I can get. Basically, if you can’t tell, it was a big panel of glass surrounded by about eight inches of painted wood. Pretty, but I wanted no lead paint and a little bit more privacy at the door.
I like the modern boost it gives this old house.
Here is a picture of the inside of the door. I love the six panels and the round farmhouse knob.
